The defense minister Abdirashid Abdullahi Mohamed said Wednesday that 50 Islamist militants from Al-Shabaab group defected and surrendered to Somali government. The new defectors within the last two months he said took advantage of amnesty offered by Somali president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo. The minister called the remaining Al-Shabaab fighters to choose a good life and defect from the group.
